Legend has it that Hedy Lamarr stumbled upon one in the woods of Eastern Europe and it not only introduced her to Hollywood, it prompted her opinion that, “Any girl can be glamorous, all you have to do is stand still and look stupid.” More importantly, it sparked an interest in radio frequencies that led her to invent a device to protect torpedoes from interference or jamming.
